Contact formEmissions reports according to the updated methodologies
Understanding your actual emissions, Kuehne+Nagel provides emissions reports and data for transport services booked with us. This data is directly available on myKN for your air, sea and road shipments.
Our emissions reporting has always aligned with the most robust and recent international carbon emission calculation standards and utilized the best available data. As such standards evolve and more detailed data becomes available, we updated our emissions calculation methodologies in line with ISO 14083:2023 and GLEC 3.0.
Starting in autumn 2024, we applied this to air and road shipments. As of February 12th, 2025, sea shipments will also follow.
Updated emissions data for sea shipments
The updated method for sea shipments is in line with ISO 14083:2023, GLEC 3.0 and the latest Clean Cargo guidelines. Additionally, we use actual historic routing data for vessels through the Automatic Identification System (AIS), reflecting the detours from the Suez Canal.
The updated numbers are reflected in the emission reports available to you via myKN, including myKN Track Shipment and myKN Analytics (Reports and Dashboards). They retroactively apply to sea shipments from January 1st, 2024.
For air and road shipments, the emissions data according to the updated methodologies is also available for shipments from January 1st, 2024. This means that you have access to ISO 14083:2023—aligned emissions data for the same period across all transport modes.
* Please note that this is not yet available for road shipments in USA, Canada and Mexico. If you use low-emission road freight solutions (Book and Claim, HVO or electric vehicles), the emission savings need to be subtracted manually for the time being. Also temperature-controlled shipments require manual recalculations until further notice.
