The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is a policy that comes with complexities—fortunately, there is a way to keep trade flowing smoothly.
The main goal of CBAM is to level the playing field between EU manufacturers and non-EU producers exporting goods with a high carbon footprint into the bloc. In doing so, it prevents carbon leakage by applying a price tag to goods originating from non-EU countries with less ambitious carbon policies.
Of course, this comes with certain obligations:
Since 1 October 2023, EU importers must disclose the embedded emissions of goods from specific industries—namely cement, aluminium, fertilisers, hydrogen, electricity, iron, and steel—imported from non-EU countries.
From 2026 onwards, in addition to compulsory reporting requirements, the purchase and surrender of CBAM certificates will be mandatory, thus applying a carbon price equivalent to the EU Emission Trading System (ETS) allowance level.
Therefore, collecting detailed data and reporting on embedded emissions for your imports governed by the CBAM regulation is essential to compliance and avoiding financial penalties. This is a complicated, resource-intensive task, especially when supply chains are complex and involve multi-level suppliers.
The good news is that solutions are available to help you save time and ensure complete alignment with EU Commission reporting standards.

Data extraction and emissions reporting for total CBAM compliance
Do you have strategies to engage with your non-EU suppliers to provide accurate carbon emission data despite gaps in their tools, knowledge, or understanding of their obligations?
Our integrated solution enables seamless CBAM data processing through a secure digital platform, reinforced by expert guidance to ensure full regulatory compliance.
What does this look like?
If your suppliers have compiled the required data into the EU Commission’s CBAM communication template, our experts will review their entries for ultimate accuracy. In cases where they have not, we will:
Facilitate a call with the supplier in their local language to guide them through our CBAM-certified questionnaire for calculating embedded emissions of relevant products.
Review factory documentation, including factory-level fuel and electricity invoices, as well as process-specific consumption figures.
You can also harness the power of our digital solution to:
Monitor supplier engagement, including the percentage of your suppliers who provided the required data.
Access a summary where you can visualise embedded emissions per HS code and supplier.
Downloadable and ready-to-upload CBAM reports
Are you confident about producing CBAM reports? Can you be sure that they meet EU Commission requirements and are ready for the CBAM registry?
With our service, you no longer need to worry about these concerns. Instead, our experts do the heavy lifting, providing you with an XML-formatted document—downloadable in one click and immediately ready for submission.
